I think that we, just like the disciples, try to find our fill with bread that will not sustain us. We live for the “big experiences” in our faith – the mission trips, the conversion experiences, the prayers with first time believers and the miracles that we see in our daily lives.
Psalm 29 contains beautiful (and terrifying) imagery of a powerful storm, comparing the voice of the Lord to the water and thunder and lighting.
God does the same thing for us in our storms today. Even when the waters are rising, we each have a place in our lives, given to us by God, which keeps us safe and dry through whatever is thrown our way.
In the darkest places of our lives, we have an infallible and perfect light to guide our steps in all things.
