The letters T-U-L-I-P have been used since the early 20th century as a popular mnemonic device for the “five points of Calvinism” or “doctrines of grace” in Reformed theology. Each letter stands for one of these doctrines:
- Total Depravity (Also known as “Total Inability” and “Original Sin”)
- Unconditional Election
- Limited Atonement (Also known as “Particular Atonement”)
- Irresistible Grace
- Perseverance of the Saints (Also known as “Once Saved Always Saved”)
