Journalists should always strive to reframe the picture: putting what is important and impactful into the center of a community’s vision. They should fight for this no matter how many times they lose.
We needed to get to know each other and to listen to each other’s stories so that we could envision and work toward making northwest Iowa a region where all of us could flourish together, whatever our race or ethnicity.
Ultimately, it wasn’t the collision of the plane that kept me turning pages, but the collision of characters—both with each other and with the wildness of the world.
Maybe the truth of Christianity is proven, not when our ideas perfectly capture how the world is, but first and foremost by our God working in and through us, helping us become what we (truly) are: image bearers of the one true God.
